Funding Success for Swan Hill!
Swan Hill Neighbourhood House is delighted to announce that we have secured $90,000 through the Victorian Government’s Community Food Relief Program – Local Grants.
This investment will enable the construction of a new kitchen extension, significantly increasing our capacity to prepare nutritious meals and deliver inclusive cooking skills and food literacy programs for vulnerable and priority community members.
Importantly, the project strengthens our partnership with Food for All - Swan Hill Region, creating a more coordinated and connected approach to local food relief. Together, we will expand meal production, enhance volunteer engagement, and build stronger food security pathways across the Swan Hill region.
We sincerely thank the Victorian Government and the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing - VIC for supporting community-led solutions that make a real difference locally.
While this funding forms a strong foundation, the total cost of the project exceeds the grant amount, and we are currently working to close a remaining funding gap to ensure the kitchen can be completed to a high standard and fully meet community needs.

A Neighbourhood House is just that – a house for the community to belong to. They are special because they are managed for, and by, the community. In other words, decision making on management policies and procedures is shared by the voluntary Committee of Management, course participants and workers at the centre. These, of course, are the people who best understand the diverse needs of their local community.
